Add a MailChimp Signup Form to WordPress

There are many ways to add a MailChimp signup form to your WordPress site. In this article, we are going to describe adding a subscribe form on a self-hosted (WordPress.org, not WordPress.com) site. Our Chromium auto parts WooCommerce theme will be used as an example. Click on images to open them in full size in a new browser tab.

After you install Chromium demo data, you may notice that your MailChimp sign up form is missing:

Follow these steps for the Mail Chimp sign up form to appear on your site:

    1. Make sure the MailChimp plugin is installed and activated on your site
    2. Register an API on MailChimp.com. You can find out how to do it here
    3. In your WordPress dashboard go to Appearance -> Widgets and drag the MailChimp widget to Footer Sidebar (4 Col) sidebar
    4. In your WordPress dashboard go to Settings -> MailChimp Setup or find MailChimp in your plugin list, click on Settings, paste your API key there and press the connect button
    5. Select a list from the dropdown and press update list button
    6. Adjust your form settings according to the screenshot below and press one of the Update Subscribe Form Settings buttons to save changes
